  • Sounds like Wharton and Kelly Jr. are both high on Tennessee. There are some major prospects out of Tennessee in the 2014 class that we need to get. Why has Wharton transferred so many times?

  • Good player with a questionable attitude. I've heard he was basically forced out at CPA. I also watched him get 3 unsportsmanlike/personal foul penalties in a single game this past season. The kid needs to get his attitude adjusted before putting on the Orange.

    It's cool man. The same people that chastised Dooley for not bringing in better talent now defend Jones for doing the same thing. That's why you all should chill out when someone criticizes him.

    I'm not bashing CBJ for his recruits. I like what i've seen so far. I know he needs time and I agree about locking down Tenn borders then branching out.

    It's kind of hypocritical though. Let the people have their opinions.

    I never chastised Dooley, in fact I supported him because he was Tennessees head coach. Even though Dooley did bring in talent I never expected him to come in and automatically recruit 4* & 5* recruits just as I don't expect CBJ to do either until he can prove he can win. I do agree w you that I like what I've seen so far and I will definitely stand behind CBJ just as I did Dooley. But being hypocritical is calling yourself a fan and then tearing down the man before he coaches one game. That's MY opinion. VFL!

    I, myself don't think anyone is tearing him down. Not that ive seen on here anyway.

    We just need to be a little more tolerant of the frustrations of others. We just spent 3 years being patient, and waiting for Dooley to turn the corner, etc,etc. No one wants to be told we have to do the same stuff again.

    Let me retract that last sentence because I've read The generals posts before and I know he's a Vols fan as all of us are or else we wouldn't be here. The point I was (obviously) poorly attempting to make is that a comment like that is not necessary given the coach has only been in position a couple weeks w so much time to go. I'm used to the "sky is falling" comments on Govolsxtra and other boards but not here. Opinion or not. VFL! "

    Someone close to the CPA school board told me they heard plagiarism was the issue there that caused him leaving. Don't take my word on that but, it seems to jive with the other rumors out there. With that said, kids do stupid things, and I wouldn't write him off as a bad kid for it. If true, he has been punished and it's up to him to learn from that. I hope he does because he's the kind if athlete that could do well in Jones' offense. He would be a good add even if he's not an "elite" recruit.

    The relationship with TK jr is great too. If I recall, Ryan has mentioned that those guys as well as a few other 2014 studs have talked about all going to school together. That's going to be an important class for Jones.

  • My synopsis is that if we hired coach strong he would have immediately helped with recruits but with much less of an established track record on the field as a HC and with CBJ he would probably need to establish a little more on the field to get more of the 4* and 5* guys but with a pretty darn good track record of winning.....not surprised here - we just need to start winning a few of the games we can win and all of the games we should win and we will start to turn the corner... JMO

  • Just wait till January guys that's when it'll start to pick up. Once these recruits get on campus they will love the idea of playing for Jones. He has his own great personality to sell along with his own proven success and the best facilities in the country. Just wait a couple of weeks. Results will come.
