It seems to me like if we can get kids on campus to take visits then Coach Jones will do the rest. Every player that has visited UT since CBJ took over has been blown away. The fact that Bell is visiting is huge. And, I believe, we are getting his last visit which is also huge. As many have previously stated, if he is uncommitted during his UT visit, look out.

Another thing I was thinking is he may be waiting and looking at what other big dawgs we sign before he makes a decision. If say we get Lawson, Green or Lawson, Kamara and North, etc. that might help him with his decision to come to UT for the simple fact that we may be close to getting good and he wouldn't be worried as much.

No, if we won games this past year then we get Bell. It was that simple but yet people cannot accept it. Everyone that covers recruiting said that bell was waiting to see how UT was going to do. I know you people are just trying to find an excuse to blame Dooley if CBJ doesn't pull bell but the fact is that wins and losses were the biggest determinant up to this point.

A lot of people are saying that Dooley botched our chances at this specific recruit. And it kind of sounds like he didn't do a good job, but I agree that a good season would've brought Bell to UT. I agree with Popcorn that a lot of folks are blaming Dooley for everything regardless if it even makes sense. I just read a post earlier that accused Dooley of not embracing Tennessee, which is ridiculous considering he embraced it whole heartedly and even wore Orange pants. I blame Dooley for wins and losses, but overall we have more potential now than when Dooley first got here. He did more good than bad, but simply could not coach.

Of course. That's why he got fired so I fail to see your point... Losing games is what put us behind with Vonn Bell, nothing else matters. People just have to continue to pile on Dooley to make themselves feel better about being behind with a kid that grew up a UT fan. "Nothing is ever as good as it seems and nothing is ever as bad as it seems" is something that the people who continue to try and blame Dooley for every single problem we have need to realize. At some point you gotta stop blaming someone and just move on. The fact is, if we won games this last year then Bell is ours no matter what. We didn't so what good does it do to try and blame Dooley for a bunch of other things that wouldn't have determined where the kid ended up?

I think I see the point you are trying to make that people need to quit blaming Dooley for everything but in this case, he is exactly who the blame belongs to. It doesn't matter if your in the "The staff botched the recruitment" or the "Tennessee didn't win enough games" camp, both were Dooleys responsibility.

Y'all don't get it. We screwed this up almost a year ago (see link below) and have been behind the 8-ball ever since. I think Jones' only shot is to present a clear plan to Bell about when he'll play and how he will be used so that Bell clearly understands his role at Tennessee and his path to the NFL in 3 years. But let's face it, with the turmoil and turnover this program has had over the past 4 years what 5-star would come here on a promise of "trust me"? That's why winning and stability are so important to this program pulling itself up. If Saban tells you that he will make you an All-American and you will play for national championship, you got to believe it because he has done it. That is hard to overcome and it's not a bad reflection on CBJ and staff, it's just the situation he finds himself in now.
I have linked the article below previously, but note it is from last February. Look at how Alabama treated him and how Dooley completely screwed this up. As a Tennessee fan, if this doesn't make you angry and frustrated then I don't know what would. By the way, the day after this article appeared Bell received an offer by phone from an assistant coach. You just can't do this to a player of Bell's caliber with a A-list set of offers. We just look clueless here. It's so damn frustrating.
