Thanks for verifying that. I have spent almost an hour rereading threads trying to find the actual quotes......hopefully we hire a coach soon or many of us may be divorced or crazy...LOL
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
Gruden would be a grand slam, but will cost too much.
Jimbo Fisher is my top choice... affordable and a winner.
Stoops is too expensive.
Fedora would be a good choice as well.. would be a step up from NC.. good age at 51 (coach long enough for Peyton Manning to be the next coach).. makes $2mil now, could get him for $3mil.
Golden has a career losing record, just like Dooley. Don't want another gamble.
How about Kyle Flood - Rutgers?... Won a Division I-AA championship at Delaware and has lead Rutgers to a 9-1 record this year. Young guy at 42 and very promising.
OK I must confess...all this talk about Gruden being a GREAT fit and a GRAND SLAM doesn't make any sense...he's not been coaching for a while, and besides that, he was not a successful college coach anywhere. He might be a good coach, but it's still a real crapshoot.
I'd feel much more comfortable taking a risk on a winning COLLEGE level coach.
If Gruden gets the right coordinators/assistants would not matter how long he has been out of coaching. I think the recruits would flock to play with him, and he knows how to manage a team.
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
