What big Vol victory do you remember attending?

  • My first big one was in '59 when I was a freshman and we beat LSU and stopped Billy Cannon. I was also at the Vols close victory over UCLA in Memphis in'65. Then I saw the first night game in Knoxville with Penn State in '72 with QB Condredge Holloway directing the 28-21 UT win. I am 71 and have many good UT game memories. Hopefully I can live long enough to see a few more big victories by the Vols, but it is looking doubtful with the present situation on the hill.

  • Florida '04 & UGA I think it was '06 when we're down big at half and came back to win by like 20 points

  • Sadly, none, I have been a die hard crazy fan for about 4 years now and have been to probably 10 + games and continue to leave with my head down. Biggest near win was at the music city bowl when we had the tar heals on the ropes, but we all know how that ended. Was there yesterday too... We're going back for ky, but even IF we win that one, it won't be anything to really brag about. I hope it gets better soon, but I'll support my VOLS win or lose , GBO!!!!

  • Biggest was the '98 OT win over Florida.

Most enjoyable was probably the '82 streakbreaker over Alabama in Bear Bryant's last game in Neyland. Alabama had won 11 straight.

'82 win over bama for me too. Ran on the field and jumped around with the players. Great time.

Was right there with you frosty. +1 Add in the '85 Sugar Bowl for me plus the first game under the lights vs. Penn State.

  • My biggest IMO would have to be the 98' Ark game...nasty cold rain, but I didn't leave.

1971 Penn State. Bobby Majors went off on them and we gave them a 'Majors' butt whippin'. They had John Hufnagel at QB, Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell in the backfield. All of them ended up in the Pro's with Harris being a Hall of Famer.

  • The 85 Sugar Bowl against Miami was the greatest victory of the Majors era. This was a turning point for the program under Majors. The stroll down Burborn St after the game with thousands of Vol fans was "priceless". The 98 Fiesta Bowl against Fla St. was the greatest victory since 51, The atmosphere at the Hyatt in Scottsdale after the game was unbelievable. The team, family, friends and fans enjoyed the victory until the wee hours of the next morning. My first big win was the 65 UCLA game.We will get back to these times.

When my son and I were at the 82 Bama game and also at the destruction of Auburn when Bo Jackson was with them and they were #1.

  • The Vandy game last year, unfortunately. Neyland was electric in OT and after the win, but it was Vandy. Regardless, it was a great experience to feel Neyland rocking like that. We stayed and sang Rocky Top for about 30 minutes after the game. My friend looked at us and said, "This is where our luck changed. And we witnessed it. It's all down hill from here." He was wrong, but it was a great experience.

I remember the "Tennessee Waltz" very well. Sports Illustrated was in Neyland to cover Bo, but T-Rob ended up on the cover instead.

  • The biggest would have to be 1998 Florida game, I was 13 years old. I remember we were in Section LL, seats 17 and 18, the row right behind the box seats in the South Upper Deck. I remember watching the ball sail wide left (my right) and then the noise that followed can only be described as white noise due to the loudness.

After that, I'd say the 2001 Florida game, which my parents got me tickets to for my December birthday, since the game was moved due to 9/11.

While I was in school, I'd say the biggest wins were Kiffin's wins over UGA and South Carolina, both of which were huge at the time. Kiffin made a huge deal out of beating UGA because he wanted to dominate the recruiting game in the state and I remember the smack talk towards Alshon Jeffrey "pumping gas" leading in the SC game.

    Good times

  • Tennessee-Alabama in 96 when Coach Graham broke off the long run to seal it. That was my Freshman year of college & got student seats in section D row 5. Even that year was considered a down year given the fact we lost to Memphis, but not nearly as down as what these last few years have turned out to be.

  • First one I remember was the 1990 Cotton Bowl when we beat Arkansas.
