What this staff has done with Vonn Bell is amazing..

  • Everyone had UT counted out, including national analysts and mods on multiple services. I loved Dooley, but we were dead in the water with a guy who grew up a Vol fan. Then BuTch comes in and beats out the 3-time (recently) national champions and undefeated OSU with an all time great recruiter as their head coach.

    (Still not over yet-no jinx-Booooooooooooooooooom!)

  • totally agree with you and others as well ...need several of these high rated recruits to buy into Butch and UT to get back to the upper tier of the SEC

    If The Butcher can go head-to-head with the likes of Urban Meyer and Nick Saban and WIN for a 5* prospect after only being on the job for 2 1/2 months, I can't even begin to imagine what he's gonna do in 2014 and 2015. It's becoming quite clear that Butch has the personality and work ethic to get it done, and that he will succeed greatly in recruiting.

    I'm on cloud nine right now. Go Vols

    well..let's not forget Bell grew up a UT fan..not diminishing the work the staff has done at all..but the real test is going to be landing the guys like this who dont have any previous loyalty to UT..

    Yep, Bell is a huge step in the right direction. It gives me hope that if they can protect guys like Bell from going to Bama, they could also keep guys like Hurd from leaving home. But you're right, the next step is landing the Lawsons and Greens of the world. Glad we're trending the right direction.

  • What the new staff has gotten done on the recruiting trail exceeds any reasonable expectations. I was afraid that due to the time constraints that we would end up being runners up on a majority of these guys and that fans would see that as some sort of failure and overlook what a great job it was considering they had no prior relationship with a lot of these guys before being hired at UT. Glad to be wrong on that one. It seems we'll land our fair share. The future looks bright.

  • Regardless of who winds up signing with Tennessee on NSD, the fact remains that Jones has gotten UT in the picture with several recruits who were completely off the radar when Dooley was in charge, and in the process UT has been mentioned a lot on recruiting websites, radio, and tv (including ESPN) during this recruiting frenzy. The more UTs name gets put out there as a topic of discussion, the more recruits will (at least subconsciously) consider the program as a legitimate contender.

  • They have done a great job and all they could do IMO.........it is a case like maybe Bellamy to UGA and Gabe Wright to AU etc.........if you really try as a staff and even late and its the kids dream to play for his dream school........you have a good chance. We just use to be more kids dream school but maybe we can change that the next few years. Instate talent getting better and our staff working hard instate will help that too.
