What was the games attendance

  • Wasn't at the game today and was wondering how many people were actually there. Also, what was the announced attendance

    gwbask

It was more than half-full. There were probably somewhere between 65,000 and 75,000 in the seats — tough to gauge that, especially when we can't really see the side of the stadium directly beneath us in the press box — and the announced attendance was 84,189.

So that's at least 3 million dollars down the drain

It was actually slightly better then I expected. The student section was pathetic.

That's fine. the 15K who didn't go but had a ticket didn't buy anything at the game and didn't pay for parking... The 20K who didn't have tickets, well you know the rest. This will be the common theme for 2 more home games, will probably be worse against Kentucky when we lose 1 of these next 2.

To be honest I don't see it getting better next year. I would like to see the exact numbers as far as how much revenue the athletic department is losing on unsold tickets and lost donations. (I think they get a set amount from company that operates concessions, and mostly private parties benefit from parking. Someone tell me if I'm wrong on that.) At the end of the day though it could work out where it saves money to pay Dooley's buyout and bring in someone to inject some life into the program.

If you get a good coach it will... If we keep Dooley season tickets will go down AGAIN.

The section right under the press box was probably the fullest section today. I was kinda surprised with the attendance, I felt like there where more in the stands than Georgia St. And Akron. I would say 75,000+. I was wondering if you might know a reason why it was so noticeably empty in section H? Could it have been anything like fans in that section maybe boycotting the game? Don't know if that is really even possible and it may be a silly question but it was just odd to me that there was that many noticeable seat empty in a lower level section.

Could it be unsold Visiting team allocation?

I'm thinking HH is allocated for opposing fans but H is for us. I also think the lower level somewhere around Z is also allocated for visitors.

no more than 55-60k. Lower bowl maybe 75% and upper deck 25% tops. The smallest crowd I can remember for a clear, dry day in 40 years.

only the top 15 rows or so. Visitors run the top rows from HH thru OO or PP or so plus lower half of A and some of the ZZ bottom rows. total 10,000 alloted. Troy brought about 1,000. Leaves 9,000 no sales and students looked like they picked up 3 or 4 thousand maybe out of 12k? something like that. Maybe 60% coverage in the rest of the stadium. Plenty of empties around me in C today.

  • My guesstimation from being at the game would be 65,000-67,500 in the seats from my view in the lower area of the Western sideline, more if the sections behind me were completely full.

However, when hafltime came, lots of people left and I would guess around 55-57k remained by the time the game was winding down.

Of course its hard to tell...

  • Also worth noting that the tickets were going for SUPER cheap. My father and I got aisle tickets on the 15-20 yard line, 13th row, western side line in section R for $10 a ticket.

    Unfortunately I think you're right.

It's going to be tough, but I'll be there with my old man cheering on what I hope to be our first SEC win.

I had plan on going to this game for weeks bit the early kick off killed that plan

I know that it looked super empty on tv. Why didn't we have that many visitors (recruits) at this game?

Early kick off and Dooley and co like visitors at the end of the season unless it's a big game
