Though we won, the Akron game was what started to get my attention. By the time the embarrassment of a win against Troy rolled around, the towel had been completely tossed.

All the posts so far in thread had some weight for me but the final nail for me (by then he was gone but assured me that the correct decision had been made) was the report out of the Chattanooga area from the high school head coaches that surfaced about our less than poor recruiting efforts. Mind boggling stuff in the article.

My "slide" began with the the UK loss....my final straw was during the final 35 or so seconds left in regulation of the Mizzou game....I was at the game, turned to my boys once regulation ended and said "Dooley just lost the game AND his job..."

Agree. Why didn't we hear more about these recruiting failings before the end of Dooley's three years????

I know that the Chattanooga area isn't exactly South Florida, but it's waaaaay too close to ignore from a recruiting standpoint, and good guys do come out of the area. Why was that staff flying all over the country to get three-star guys and ignoring three stars and higher (Vonn Bell, anyone...) so close to home? Inexplicable.

I got out of my seat when we barely beat Vandy winning a nailbiter in OT and he made the comment, "we always kick the s**t out of Vandy." I just thought it embarrassing that he would make a big deal out of such a flimsy win.

I went to the caboose and hung on to the railing after the Kentucky loss. I was looking for a soft landing spot then, but wanted to believe in my Vols, be patient, and not part of the problem.

The Florida game last fall was going to reward my patience. But the Doolander- Vols melt down in the 2nd half was a gut shot. As I left the stadium that day all I could hear repeatedly in my head was David Lee Roth singing "might as well jump, go ahead and jump."

florida ,i thought we had the best chance in years to whoop those punks,and i still say we was the better team and got outcoached in the 4 quarter..still hurts
