Let's face it -- we all know Petrino took the WKU job to get back in the business and use it as a stepping stone for his next opportunity.
Where will that opportunity be?
Granted, he may not be a candidate for any major jobs next year, but where might he be a good fit when openings come up down the road? Some possibilities:
South Carolina The Ol' Ball Coach doesn't have many years left. When Spurrier retires, I could see the Gamecocks making a play for Petrino. Their last two hires have been big-name coaching veterans. Petrino's Southern recruiting base and excellent record could make him Spurrier's successor.
Missouri When Mizzou's 2012 season ended, rumors ran rampant that Pinkel was stepping down as the Tigers' head coach. Those reports were false; however, they point to possible instability in Columbia. Would Petrino be an appealing replacement for Pinkel at some point? He knows the Ozarks well. I can't help but think they'd give him a call.
USC This one may seem a bit far-fetched given Petrino's history as a coach in the Southeast; however, might USC be a landing spot for him if the Kiffin regime continues to go south? It wouldn't be the craziest idea in the world. After all, the Trojans hired Kiffin.
What are some other places you could see Petrino landing in the next couple years?

Where will Petrino end up after WKU?
