Who will be retained?

  • I know everyone is saying we must keep Graham. Who else do we keep? I like what Pitman has done with the O-Line and McKeefery must stay. Think Palmero could help if we had more depth on D-line.

  • Do you limit the coaching list if you make the new HC keep someone he has not worked with or for that matter might not know anything about?

    Remember from what I can remember we had Cut back if he could have brought his staff he wanted and we(MH and crew) said no you have to have x on your staff...CDC did not become the next head coach at UTK.

    I am all for great coaches but I would believe that the new coach will want that freedom to hire his staff. If it includes any of the current members great, jmo

  • I say give him all the freedom in the world to make the decisions on his staff. However I think some of the current staff would help transition with current players and the current recruiting class.

  • I agree with those. I'm a big Jim Chaney fan, too. Depends on who we get as HC. If it is a defensive guy, I see not reason not to keep Chaney. Yes, we struggled to run the ball last season, but this year he has produced one of the more prolific offenses in school history. I think some of the more bone-headed downfield throws on third and short were probably free-lancing on the part of Bray (mere speculation). I typically tend to really like Chaney's play-calling except early in the season where he would forget about the run game.

    If we hire an offensive guy, he will probably need to find someone to run his system. But if I had my druthers, I'd keep:

    Chaney
    Graham
    Pitman
    McKeefery

    Agreed, and if the new HC is the man we need he'll have to wisdom to know a few of the currents are worth keeping for their skills and transition help. I would think Jay & Pittman would be the top two.

    I am a fan of Hinshaw. He can flat out recruit and loves UT. Those 3 and Ron McKeefery. But that all falls on the next HC. I see no way Chaney is here next year or anyone on the defensive side.
