Why is Bringing Back

Why is brining back Philip coming up from so many of my friends tonight? Not my own suggestion, but I am open to persuasion.

I'm sure alot of it comes from the last time we were relevant he was here and a few years off from coaching may have brought his fire back

If we cannot get one of the big names we want, I am fine with bringing in Fulmer again. Particularly if they fire Dooley on Monday.

Because replacing him the way we did was the biggest mistake in the program's history (not debatable based on results) and now no one worth a crap will want to coach at UT.

I know it wouldn't be the sexy hire or a very popular one but it would not be a disaster IMO.

I like Fulmer and I'm appreciative of what he did hear, but he was let go for a reason.....he was complacent.

Yes, he was. He also won 152 games and bled Orange. Even a complacent Fulmer was a hell of lot better than what we brought in after him.

I think he got complacent because he feared for his job, if he were given another chance I think he would run with it

He is available and already on the payroll. Doesn't need to be rehired,just promoted.

I'm not so sure that he would want to coach for Tennessee again. If I had be done the way he was, I would not even consider it.

Cut isn't taking a demotion. I would take fulmer with Chaney and Chavis all day long.

I was really frustrated with Fulmer after the #35 class or whatever it was ranked, and then that horrible last season. However, if he was to have Graham and Martin, I can't see how recruiting could ever be too bad. Maybe with the "fire back in his belly", he could be the "Great Fisherman" again long enough to get the program back on its feet.

I think it is debatable as many of us were ready for him to go. IMO it was not a mistake to let him go; it was long overdue. That being said the subsequent hires have not been good and Fulmer's mediocre years do look good at this moment. However I don't think that's a good reason to return to the past. We need to move forward, heal the rifts of Majors and Fulmer's firings and reunite as a fan base. This will be Hart's first football hire so let's hope he gets a good one.

I respect your opinion, but I am not sure how it can be "long overdue" to fire a coach who was in the SEC championship game the year prior and who I think had a top 10 recruiting class the day he was fired.

He is a storied alumni with a Championship ring, reportedly an excellent recruiter and apparently not a bad coach. He is a VFL!

I would love to see Phil come back! I think he would have a totally different attitude toward the job and would bring us back!

I do Not want Tee Martin here. He knew how badly Kiffin screwed UT and even tried to burn the program down on his way out, yet he took a job with Kiffin. Also, he is not that good a coach, USC has how many losses now? No need for Tee at UT.

Are you serious? Your hating on a man for taking a raise and a coaching job at one of the top programs in the country? Last time I looked he wasn't responsible for there 3 losses considering his wr are probably the best duo in the country

Totally serious - Tee thumbed his nose at UT by going to USC. Also, the WRs at USC were there before him and good before he set foot on their campus. We don't need him here.
