Is that salary right? Wow if true.

  • Should have hired him when we hire Lane- too late now.

I think it'd be hard for him to turn down an offer that would triple his salary.

    volfan28

  • It would take him a few years to do the same at Tennessee. Does this fan base have enough patience for such a hire?

  • I can tell you why....for as long as we have been losing Norte Dame went through it worse. Multiple coaches and multiple losing seasons and they were not use to it like we are not now. They had a tradition and lost it and so far this season it looks like they got it back. Does anyone on this board really think Notre Dame is going to let him go anywhere? He will have a contract extension and a record raise by the end of the season. Not to mention it's easier to recruit at Norte Dame compared to Tennessee. They have a national fan base and a lock tight contract with NBC. Name one reason why he would come to Tennessee?

In addition to all of the above, with which I agree, I'm still not sold completely on him. He's supposed to be the offensive guru, remember? His defensive coordinator is the one who's gotten him to 3rd in the BCS standings, not his brilliant offense. The only thing really good ND's had on offense since he's been there is Golden Tate, which didn't have much to do w/his scheme.

Jury's still out on him, IMO.

  • If we do decide to make a move at a coach, we should at least throw an insane offer at him and make ND match it.... If we get him, great. if we don't, we screwed ND boosters out of a lot of $..... No lose situation in my opinion.twocents

Easier to recruit at ND? Um no.

To answer your question: Better facilities. More money. Best conference. More passion.

So we blame coaches for making bad hires but give them no credit for making good ones? Got it

I doubt it. Only one way to find out.

    volfan28

  • They have no more of a national fan base than we do. Y'all act like we are UT-Chattanooga

    volfan28

  • Im not for sure but i think the job he has was his dream job...... i think there is 0 chance of getting that dude....

    KeenanMiracle

  • Dude I am a diehard vol fan but are you seriously saying there are more vol fans than Catholics? I mean come on let me help you out you had me on national fan base.......they actually opened in Dublin Ireland this year so maybe the have a worldwide fan base. And as for the best conference you are correct the SEC is by far the best but Notre Dame football is not in a conference and he has not commissioner to worry with. They play west coast USC Stanford they play Midwest OK they play North Michigan Michigan St he can recruit any where he wants. Like I said I am all vol but I am realistic enough to know that Notre Dame has a larger fan base than Tennessee.

  • Let me close by saying I am sorry if I upset or offended any one that is Catholic.

ND has tons of bank, 28. You might not have seen it in the last 10 years, but they gotz all kinds of old money bro. No way we get Kelly out of South Bend after this season. I grew up in a Catholic school system and can tell you that its more than just football at ND, its religious pride...

What? You are kidding right? You must be a teenager and that is not a knock but it is obvious you have no clue how big ND is by your comments.

Truth. Notre Dame is college football...pukeface and it pains me to say that.
They've got many money. And the situation there is sooo much better than here. Never will happen.

Why would he leave a team thats always ranked in the top 25, no matter what happened the year before?

  • As much as I don't like Notre Dame, they have a much larger fan base than we do and their tradition is more well known than ours. Almost every Catholic kid in America who grew up watching football was watching Notre Dame.
