    Based on the conference you play in, or lack thereof, I agree that you don't need Alabama type kids to win 9,10, 11 games or even make it to the national championship but you'll need elite talent to actually win it. That said, I hope ND gets an opportunity to prove otherwise in January

    That is such BS ! I am so sick of this SEC Talk. I do agree with you that you need good South players but you don't have to have your entire roster filled with the ghetto south. LA and Texas crank out big time players and a few come out of the Mid west. With that said Notre Dame has a balance of players from east to west and if they continue to recruit and we can continue to win we will have no problem beating any SEC team. By the way do you really think Alabama has been challenged with their BS schedule. That goes for Oregon as well, anytime team that schedules Savannah State should be banned from playing in a BCS bowl. I am so tried of this discussion until we go to a play off we are just stroking each other.

    I hate to suggest this, because it will hurt ND. But if I were UT I would make a play for our O.C Chuck Martin. He replaced Kelly at Grand Valley State & won big there, infact they never missed a beat. He is going to make a great Head Coach at this level in the near future. That should be the guy ya'll make a play for imo.

    Notre Dame has wins over Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, BYU, and Oklahoma. They also have one of the best defenses in the country.

    the list I've seen has salary at 3 million.. I'm sure someone has shown that by now..

    making Gruden the top paid college coach is one thing. I'm not sure who that is currently a college head coach, taht would come, is worth that kind of money?? We would have to put Kelly above Saban to get him IMO

  • BS you flash him 3 mill he is good as gone. Notre Dame has to eat it and pay him what he wants. good coaches are hard to come by. Pay BK 3.5 and pay Diaco 1.5. Keep both of them and have a ten year run.

    Kelly is doing well. Signed an extension at ND already. Says ND is dream job. He is not going anywhere. Maybe you guys can try Chip Kelly. And stay away from Diaco.

    Had to use a different set of rankings for this because 247 only goes back a couple years.. the database I used only goes back to 2002.

    2002 UT - 2 ND - 24

    2003 UT - 18 ND - 12

    2004 UT - 20 ND - 91

    2005 UT - 4 ND - 40

    2006 UT - 23 ND - 8

    2007 UT - 3 ND - 8

    2008 UT - 35 ND - 2

    2009 UT - 10 ND - 21

    2010 UT - 9 ND - 14

    2011 UT - 13 ND - 10

    2012 UT - 17 ND - 20

    AVG UT - 14 ND - 23

    The year where ND finished 91st skews things. If you ignore that year, their average is 16th.. only 2 spots below our average. There isn't enough evidence to say either school has an advantage in recruiting but I can't imagine Tennessee ever finishing 91st.

    Hmm. That is very interesting find. I don't really have the time to find stuff like that but +1 to you volfan. Like the data to back up an arguement such as this and I stand corrected.

    Diaco is the coach at Notre Dame. You lose Diaco the entire system will dump.
