Why not Mike Gundy?

He was Les Miles' offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State and then took over when Les went to LSU. Since 2008 he has had them firmly in the national picture. He would also build instant recruiting inroads into Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc.
I have read that he is ready to move on to bigger things and I am sure T-Boone will try to keep him around but I think it's worth a try.

Thanks. I like him too, but you're right, if BP wants him, Gundy's going nowhere.

OSU guy. Same reason Shaw will never leave Stanford. I cannot wait until we have our own guy again that can get it done. We were spoiled beyond belief.

Have you seen his teams play Defense? Same for Petrino, who can't recruit or coach Defense. Tennessee needs a guy that can coach the defensive side of the ball, not some offense guru.

We don't necessarily have to have a defensive HC, we need the right HC. But we need a stud DC without a doubt.

he is an OSU grad. He makes 3 million a year.
Not sure he would be worth Urban Meyer money and I would guess that is what it would take to get him (4 million)

I think Mike Gundy is one hell of a pure football coach. Oklahoma State has also been recruiting Georgia pretty hard of late.
I think that would be a quality hire for Tennessee.
