Why would a HS back pick Bama?

When they have TWO stud 1,000 yard backs returning. Do they actually think they could beat out Lacy or Yeldon for playing time??

I asked this and Ryan and a few others reminded me of the way backs are used in the NFL with the 2 back system and that they don't mind waiting a year to shine when a NC is so possible there. But I still thinks it's money and loose women.

Also, I still think McCarron looks like Mox. Who wouldn't want to play with Mox??

These kids are more savvy than they used to be. The know that they can sit the bench or be used sparingly for a couple of years then run well for one year and show off at the combine and they stand a good chance of being first or second round picks. Add to that the chances of injury are reduced and you have a workable and logical strategy.

Exactly, most kids these days don't want to try anything hard..... take the easy way.
I know they still have to work hard under Sabie....but they know they will be on easy street for a couple of years and then not have to be pounded behind lesser O lines....
Like Cowboy Joe said on sport talk.....Grow a set and take on a challenge! Be apart of building something that you can look back on and say "I helped build that!".

Good point. We've seen what being a workhorse can do (Lattimore). RBs have a short NFL careers, why shorten it by being a collegiate workhorse?

Look at Marcus Lattimore, there is no honor in carrying the ball 40 times per game at 19 years old. I also don't think it is the easy way out either, if Yeldon doesn't work hard this summer, they are bringing in 4 kids to take his spot. You get pushed constantly.
I think it would be harder to say no. If you can make it as the RB there, you can make it anywhere.

I agree with what everyone has said thus far in this thread. You also have to remember that with these elite kind of prospects, they don't care who is playing RB at a school they are considering. A lot of these kids are the best football players in their city and even state's history. Guys like Derrick Henry (who holds the record for most rushing yards in high school football history) don't care who is already at a school because of their egos. They think that they are the best and want to prove that they can beat out other elite backs. So they train harder. So what you get is 5 RB's at Alabama that could each be THE guy other SEC schools.

If you aren't willing to go and compete for your job everyday, Saban doesn't want you anyway. It's one reason he is winning championships. Hopefully we will adopt that attitude instead of becoming the "path of least resistance" option.
