Will we ever grab anything more than a 3 star...

  • Can't read all the posts but it's interesting to see multiple threads about the same topic since Butch has taken the job. I think you'll be fine and he will bring in the recruits that will help the program. I wouldn't put all my stock in what the star rankings say but I can say my son is a 4* and has been contacted by the staff. He can't wait to get down and see the facilities etc. He likely wouldn't have visited before the new staff who had already built a relationship with him at Cincinnati and Wisconsin.

    I don't intend to offend my friend, but I'd rather hold off for a bit. Some people can be a bit hostile at times... But he's in the top 10 overall in our state in all rankings not just 247. He's a top 15 player nationally at his position as well. Coach Jones will bring in some talent.

    You dont have too.I figured out who it is by your post history.And let me tell you we would love to have him.He plays bigger and stronger than his weight.I watched him on YouTube.He will love the facilities.Look Urbans a good coach.But ask yourself this in deciding on OSU or Michigan.Do you want to get up to play one Big Game a season?Or wouldnt you rather play several Big Games a year.Check it Tn played like 7 top 25 teams last year.3 were in the the top 10 when we played them.We play big Games and have to " Get Up to play Big Games every other week. SEC is the place to be we are the testing grounds to see if you can compete with the best in the Country.KT would love it.

    I think lots of kids are going to love playing for this group. Quality people.

  • And the 3 star train keeps rolling with A.J. Branisel! Again, I like that some people are taking visits and we do have some momentum there, but this guy's offer sheet is not SEC caliber, which is telling of itself. I hope that we can land some studs, but we just haven't yet. Jan 11th will be a HUGE weekend for CBJ and staff. As he said, if they can get them on campus, then that's all they should need.

    You realize there are only a handful of 4 star tight ends right?

    While i have been critical of the recruiting progress thus far, you are correct. There arent a ton of elite tight ends, and most HS tight ends dont get a ton of balls and stats, so to sign a three star tight end of this kids caliber is a good get for us. Still doesnt alleviate concerns with the class overall, however. We need to close strong down the stretch to consider this a successful effort by the staff imho.

    I feel like the staff is doing what they can. Behind the 8-ball when it comes to this years class. Need to close the best they can, but next year and the year after will tell more about there ability than this year. They are selling Tennessee in 2 months and other schools have been selling themselves for 2 plus years to the same kids.
