Wisc/NC State Doeren shows how crazy these searches are..

  • I don't think anyone has a clue until minutes, maybe hours before the press conference.

    Look at the Wisc situation. Northern Ill coach Doeren was a DC at Wisc, pretty hot up and comer and I'm sure would have loved a shot at the Wisc job....but of course he had no clue his buddy was leaving and he accepted the NC State job just 3 days prior to Bilema leaving. Crazy.

    These things can happen fast without "sources" being in the know quick enough.

  • The BC coaching search is similar ... the Notre Dame defensive coordinator was at BC interviewing yesterday morning. He had not been gone 3 hours when Addazio, the Temple head coach, was named the selection. It's wild out there. And prior to the announcement, Addazio's name had not even been mentioned as a possibility for the job!

    And on top of that, I bet the majority of UW fans were thinking that Chryst would have been the man.
