Worley - One of 5 in SEC East to watch

  • Five SEC East offensive players to watch - SEC Blog - ESPN

It's time to take a look into our own crystal balls here on the SEC blog. Now that bowl season is over, we're taking a look at some potential breakout

  • maybe should have named Worley and Peterman "Co"- offensive players to watch for us.. that is going to be an interesting battle in the spring and fall. But in terms of true break out potential, i think the guy has to be Pig Howard. With the loss of Hunter, CP, Rivera and Z Rogers, we are in desperate need of playmakers and Pig fits that bill.

    Couldn't agree with this more.

Your post makes me wonder if CBJ will opt to rotate QBs in the event that there is no clear winner of the QB battle. I hope the answer is a resounding "NO"...

  • Guys, Worley was the Gaterade Offensive Player of the year. The knock on him by rating services is that his mind-blowing numbers were a result of hime being a "system QB". Guess what kind of system he ran - one like CBJ is going to run. No, he is not a Tee Martin type running QB, but he is is a good runner. The spread does not necessarily require it.. The Pistol version is designed for a rRB that runs. The Zone Read version is more of a triple option version. As the coaches say, they will adjust it to the talent they have.

Worley will be the starter. Book it.

It is worth noting that CBJ and Co heavily recruited Peterman for the spread out of high school.

  • It's going to be very interesting this spring. I'm not Anti-Worley or anything like that. But with a new coaching staff, one who obviously likes Peterman a lot, I wonder if its his job to lose. Would be nice to at least see what we have in him, he could do huge things in this offense.

  • Ryan/Wes does Peterman legitimately have a shot of surpassing Worley as the man to be at QB. Just curious as to your thoughts.

  • Randolph- 1 of 5 SEC East Defensive players to watch next year. One of my favorite young Vols.

Pig reminds me alot of Rainey and Demps for Florida. His acceleration speed is just stupid ridiculous....

He is going to play a huge factor for us next season. Would love to see him returning kicks and punts.

Is D Young still on the team?

Can't wait to get Randolph back, he'll definitely help out in the secondary.

  • I don't doubt they lot Peterman a lot. I like Peterman a lot. But the fact that they liked him a lot last year does not preclude them having liked Worley a lot the year before or this year.

I'm just saying that Worley is a great fit for the offense, has a lot of game experience, performed well and by all accounts is a hard worker in the weight room and in the film room.

He will be the starter, and Peterman will get a lot of game snaps. He and we will be fortunate if Peterman can build himself into a good back-up this year.

  • i remember reading last year that peterman was ahead or competeing right with worley for #2 before he broke his finger or hand or whatever it was..
