#RiseToTheTop #RoadTo7 "Give him six"
High School Class of 1994... we had weight clubs for the football team. if you could bench 200-299lb you were in the 200lb club. and so on and so forth. We had several guys on the team that were in the 400lb club. we actually had one guy that started and was the only member of the 500 lb club. His max was 525, impressive and scary at the same time. The best I ever did was 340 so I was more middle of the pack. This was pretty normal in South Florida (where I grew up, and played high school ball) as far as the strength of individuals at that time.
I also understand about lifting heavy weight with long arms (I am 6'6"). There is a trick to it, there is a technique to arching your back a certain way that basically expands your chest which shortens the distance of the bench press by several inches. It is a body building trick that is extremely effective and will actually allow the person lifting to usually increase their bench weight by a few pounds just because of the technique.
Any way you spin it, that is very impressive that your son lifted 400 lbs, you and he should be proud. I wish him the best.
