I speak from a pure android user background. I shunned Iphone early on because I hated (rightly or wrongly) the proprietary trap of being stuck with itunes.

However, just my two cents on the current android phone options. My wife has a Droid Razr Maxx, which I thought about getting, but used her phone as a test device for a couple of months. I settled on the Galaxy S3. Because I've lived with both phones, here's a quick pros and cons list.

The Droid Razr Maxx is all about the battery. That phone can go two days with heavy usage and not need a charge. The Galaxy S3 can't compete on the battery front. The S3 might be a little better than the average, but not by much. As for everything else in terms of attributes (except maybe signal strength), the S3 kicks the crap out of the Droid. The snapdragon processor on the S3 is essentially twice as fast. The notification bar has some quick shortcuts to things like mute sound, wifi, bluetooth. You wouldn't think something like that would be such a huge plus, but its awesome to have all of the "on/off" features available after just one swipe. Anyway, really digging the S3. If you live in an area with good cell service and you don't mind charging the phone at the end of the day, the S3 is the best phone you've ever had (anti-iphone bias notwithstanding).
