govols247 Staff Picks: Week 3

Nice UT Doolio! I tend to agree with ya. Go Vols!

Afterthought: Did I read it wrong or are both Wes and Ryan picking Kansas to beat TCU. Interesting. If KS actually upsets TCU all 10 fans in the seats will make the long journey across the track that surrounds the high school-like Jayhawk field to rock the goal post before simply giving up. I hope ya'll are right but I just don't see it happening.

These picks, just like our pick 'em group on Yahoo, are on the spread. We're picking Kansas to cover the spread against TCU, not saying they'll win outright.

  • UT 34 UF 17 I don't see the gators being able to stop our passing attack and our D will be all over Driskel. We may not be able to run the ball but I don't think it will matter. Go Vols!

  • Wes "You chose poorly." Rucker.

Thanks a lot Wes. I've lost an idle AND I have to shave this stoopid beard I've been growing in homage of your wisdom...(which I guess is ok, but it'll really disturb the robins nest)

When you pull up the emoticon window, you just click on the one you want to use.

  • Fulmer was always the problem against Florida. It was Fulmer's head that was the problem. That always bled over to the team. That's why it went on for so many years, through so many different sets of players. Fulmer. I'm grateful for his achievements. But whenever you looked at him on that sideline against Florida, you could literally SEE him choking. To me, he always looked tense and jumpy and not in control of himself.

Kiffin came in and slapped together a bunch of over-rated players and never stood a chance. Dooley has been rebuilding almost from scratch for the past two years. The streak is a myth. The streak was against Fulmer. Not these coaches, not these players. Several on our coaching staff have been to national championships at other schools, where beating Florida along the way was just part of what you did.

I'll tell you what these loose, excited players are thinking. They are thinking, "This is our first chance to show how good we are. Can't wait!" They are looking at Florida as a stepping-stone opponent. A game they should win and intend to win. So they can move on to Georgia, and really start shocking the world. I'm telling you, whatever happens in this game, that is what these players are thinking. And they are right. There are zero gators in these guys heads. Zero.

I've tried that. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but thanks anyway.

  • Wes, I relly liked how you decided that one team or the other would win at Neyland Stadium on Saturday. You should have finished by saying that "Florida will win 27-24, unless, of course, Tennessee outscores them in the end".

    I'm nothing if not honest.

Look at how much I've sucked at picks this year, though. I mean ... that should make you feel better, right?

  • If Wes is wrong and we do win, I think someone should call the show daily and say he picking games is the same as Arsenal playing soccer...they both suck! Ha! You know I have mad respect for you Wes but it would be fun to give you a hard time!

If Florida wins like he described I'll pitch in to capture some raccoons and deliver to the Rucker Estate.

GO VOLS! GO HEAT! GO PHINS! GO BRAVES! And for those who know soccer: GO BRAZIL! GO GRÊMIO!
