"Pass completed by Driskel for a Florida TD", that is news. Your opinion is not and even if it was I still wouldn't be happy hearing about how great Florida's QB is in the middle of the biggest game in 6 years while emotions are running high.

Driskle was great at times, that is the news. The kid has shown out the last two games when he needed to, and that IS how stars are born. I fail to see Wes' opinion in that statement. Listen we were all angry, that's fine, I completely understand, but I'm sure I can go back to week one against NC State and find something Wes or Ryan wrote about Amerson not looking like an All American. Is it ok for them to write that?

If you do not want to hear about what the other teams players are doing against our vols I would suggest not checking twitter during the games. Better yet if you cant appreciate the tweets, un-follow.

Wes was absolutely right. The kid is going to be special. Tennessee has to get better or it will be left behind. A football team is a reflection of its leaders. Recognizing what makes Florida or Bama good consistently is not the problem, but failing to acknowledge that Tennessee needs to start showing some of these qualities is a big problem around here. I am not calling for Dooley's head, but alot of folks around here complained about Florida's coach's demeanor last year, now look at his team. They play hard and don't quit. They play with real passion. The kind that doesn't evaporate when you face adversity. Florida's starters and main contributors are from their Junior and Sophomore class, just like UT. That Florida team isn't anymore experienced than UT but they played like it and to me that has to do with coaching and overall leadership.

This team can still win 8 games but the leadership has to improve from the coaches to the players. Specifically, Bray has to grow up this morning and lead this team for four quarters. His offensive line is playing its butt off, opening holes and giving him time. He owes it to them to man up. The best thing about the Driskell kid was that he got up everytime and just kept coming and his team followed. You may not like it, but you have to respect the way that kid plays football, if you're a football fan, emotions running high or not.

Or... Tell the man when there's something that rubs me the wrong way. Nobody is right or wrong here. Have no idea why people are taking sides. I'm just a paying customer doing what I can to make this site and it's services the best they can be for myself. Selfish? Yes, but in this scenario I see nothing wrong with that. Just being real instead of kissing butt and I'm sure Wes actually appreciates it.

I get it but when emotions are running high I'm not the kind of guy that appreciates anything positive about the opponent. Besides, it doesn't even matter. Who really cares? I was mad at the Vols and took it out on Wes but he's a big boy. Moving on. Bout to turn my attention to what DOES matter.. Happy Sunday everyone.

Wes' job isn't to make sure everyone is comfortable with what he writes or tweets. His job is to report on UT athletics and issues directly related to UT sports. Driskel's performance last night, was DIRECTLY related to the UT program. I cannot even begin to fathom how people are getting all bent out of shape because Wes wrote what everyone saw last night - Driskel is going to be playing on Sundays in a couple of years, without a doubt.

If you don't like seeing positive messages about the other team, your problem lies with the Vols, not with Rucker or any journalist. You cannot lash out at a reporter for reporting what he sees. Analysis is a key component of that. Respectfully, if you want to follow a UT cheerleader, you'll probably want to unfollow most journalists in the Knoxville market.

We can't cater our work and specify it for each and every individual member. That's impossible.

  • I appreciate great players. The first two starts of Driskel's career were wins in College Station and Knoxville. Says more about him than his opponents, IMO.

  • I love getting downvoted for outrageously suggesting that a kid starting his career with wins at Texas A&M and Tennessee is impressive.

I get that this is a Vols board, but how can you love sports if you can't appreciate a worthy adversary? I just don't get that at all.

  • I personally don't think that bray played that poorly. 1 of his interceptions he was hit before throwing the ball. I don't understand why we threw the ball 44 times with the lead all the way up until the end of the third quarter. It is largely the system that each plays in and the situation of the team. Florida doesn't rely on driskel the way we do bray. Also at some point our two receivers need to make a play, get open, and catch a freaking pass. I for one would love to see Chaney gone after this season. He abandons the run way too fast. What happened to motion plays to get the defense moving and thinking. Or party calling was way to predictable. Just my opinion

  • My two cents - I pay my subscription fee for this site and I follow Wes on Twitter because I find his opinions and insights on all things Vol interesting. I may not always agree with him, but I respect his opinion. Exchanging messages with Wes on here or on Twitter is no different than having a discussion with one of my buddies over a beer, however Wes has much more access to Vols personnel and players (as well as other SEC connections) so he is able to provide an informed insight.

As for the Driskell comment - he was dead on. My buddies and I discussed several times on our way back to West Tennessee today how impressed we were with Driskell and the consensus of all was that we saw the birth of a star yesterday.

    Keep on keeping on Wes.

I didn't do it fyi and I do appreciate worthy advisaries just not while they are beating my team's face in. It's like kicking me while I'm down.. I mean is it really that much to ask to wait until the game is over before telling me how awesome an opponent is? It's not a big deal really... Just because I started a thread while I was on tilt doesn't mean I hate you or your work obviously or I wouldn't keep giving you my money

Don't get me wrong, there's no animosity on this end.

I'm just curious. I'm not wired like fans are, so I enjoy the conversation as much as anything.

Volfan - I promise I don't mean this personal toward you and I have not given you any downvotes, however the purpose for downvotes and upvotes are for poster's to get a rating based on what you bring to the community (board). It allows us to some degree "police" our own board. Simply put, your rating is your "street cred" and honest;y, you have lost some credibility with this thread. Many of your posts I have seen in the past have been informative or sparked good, healthy discussions. This post did neither. Learn from your mistakes - we all make them every day. It is what we learn from them and how we move forward that gives us true "street cred" on this board and in life in general. I hope you take this in the spirit it is intended - from one Vol and to another in a friendly. non-judgmental way. Go Vols!

    Will do.

I think we've run our course with this debate, anyway.
