Short form: I could get in-state tuition at either UT or Alaska-Anchorage after graduating high school (my parents had moved up here already). It was $1300 a semester at UAA vs about $3000 at Tennessee. I then started debating for the University and going on scholarship for that, so I just stayed up here. I've always wanted to move back, but it wasn't until the last couple of years that I seriously started considering it (having a job that pays more helps when trying to plan a move 5000 miles across North America).

i left my house this afternoon for 4 hours for an open house..... I came back home and some people that just moved in down the street were outside of my garage screwing around....
I got out of the car and asked them what they were doing..... Thay asked me if i lived there and if i was aware that there were tweo dogs in cages in the garage barking....
I told them that its my house and that I crate my dogs in my garage when i leave.... They proceeded to tell me that crate training a dog is cruel and that they had called animal control and filed a complaint....
I proceeded to tweak on them and told those PETA lovers to get off of my property.....
First off there is nothing wrong with crate training a dog and leaving a dog in a crate for 4 hours.... Its hardly a crime and its a good thing to do....
Animal control showed up a few hours later and asked me what was going on.... I explained to them the situation and invited the officer inside to see my dogs.... SHe took one look and said that they are fine....
She also told me not to worry about the people that filed a complaint, bc crate training (especially for a puppy) is a good thing.... She also told me that unless she sees evidence that a dog is sick or has been abused, that she has no athority to do anything, and she was not sure why those people filed a complaint against me...
Sorry for the rant, but I am very fired up right now... . The nerve of some people!!!! Those people need to learn how to mind their own business...

the main reason they probably continued to bark is because to strangers/weirdos were walking around outside of my garage for an hour messing around with the windows and the door.....
Anyone that knows anything about animals would know that is just going to scare them and agitate them and make them bark more.....
also, i don't understand their logic.... am i suppossed to let a puppy have free roam of my house while i'm gone??? He could seriously hurt himself or kill himself if he is left unsupervised.... who knows what he would get into.....
