Now, I'm not a prude by any interpretation of the word, but it seems to me that MIA throwing up a bird during the halftime performance -- which, by the way, I didn't even notice, and I was watching the thing -- isn't really newsworthy when compared to the softcore porn some companies pass as ads these days. The Adriana Lima teleflora ad for one, or that Kim kardashian skechers ad from a few months ago. I read an article about the NFL halftime show organizer apologizing because they had hoped to keep the Super Bowl family-friendly. Seriously? They think flipping the bird is more damaging to kids than an ad whose message, forgive my frankness, boils down to, "Buy me flowers and I'll let you do me." Baffles me. But it doesn't really surprise me, I guess. Whatevs. Go Giants.

Valid point. And by the way, the ads and flipping the bird are wrong.
But the NFL will say that they directly control the halftime entertainment and the host network controls the ads. That's their cop out for the family friendly excuse. Could the NFL flex their muscle and tell NBC to clean it up? Sure, but it would cost them alot of $$ and I'm not so sure NBC or whoever would tell them its none of their business

I broke my foot playing Pictionary 20 years ago. Neighborhood guys against gals. We were losing very bad. We finally had a word, (neighborhood) I drew a bunch of houses. They finally guessed it, and I jumped up, excited, and fell over a stool and broke my foot. The guys would not take me to hospital until we finished the game. Everyone in the emergency room knew about it. I have never played that silly game since.

The fact that you deleted my post says a lot about where we are as a society. There was no profanity, no harmful sentiments...just an uncomfortable subject. Eh...whatever. They could leave. The NFL wouldn't have trouble finding another network to host them. But it wouldn't matter. Advertising is the same on every channel.

Then you don't fully comprehend why your "thought" was so absolutely over the line. I'm not attacking you, and I'm not threatening you when I say this, but if you were to share that idea in a public place here in Memphis, you would have been on the news for a very bad reason.
The Internet throws you a lifeline, but in reality that post was awful. You didn't use bad words, and that's the worst part. Your insenuations and self-reasonings were, honestly, scary. You were saying it without saying it, and sometimes implications are taken alot worse than explications.
