mental toughness, coaching, and LBJ

  • Obviously this team melted against UF, and I understand people blaming the coach for us folding again. I'm just not convinced that coaches can build mental toughness. It seems to me like people have it or they don't, and the decision to develop it is a personal one.

    I don't think Erik Spoelstra made LBJ mentally tougher. I think LBJ got tired of losing, dedicated himself in the off-season, and came back a killer.

    Maybe college is different but I don't think so. JMO, but we didn't lose that game because our guys were not "coached to be mentally tough", we lost because we don't have a lot of mentally tough guys.

  • While I think this assertion is generally correct in relation to the Vols (gave you a +1), LBJ is not a killer.

    Kobe and Jordan are killers. Would do ANYTHING to win.

    Just don't think LBJ has that in him. Awesome player but wouldn't murder for a W in February. Those other guys would.
