It's been 12 years together this year. Did you ask her father first? Maybe I'm just old fashioned, I guess folks still do that. I would want that if I were a father.

my lady and I got our wedding bands in the mail today..... asking her parents for me was horrible never been so nervous in my life.... I thought i was going to have to pull a bill russell and vomit....... Of course they said yes but that was twice as bad as the proposal itself......

Took my father inlaw golfing, which is normal for us, to ask him. We always bet a dollar and play skins with no carry over (not a big gambler but makes it fun). Waited until he was lined up for an important putt before I did it. I ended up beating him but forfeited as it was pretty much cheating springing that on him mid-round.
