Live UT scrimmage updates: Aug. 17

Tennessee junior safety Brent Brewer (17) and junior receiver Da'Rick Rogers (21)

The Tennessee football team is scrimmaging Friday night in Neyland Stadium, and govols247 staff writers Wes Rucker and Ryan Callahan are on hand to post updates below.

UT head coach Derek Dooley and some of his players are expected to be made available to reporters after the scrimmage, with interviews tentatively scheduled to begin at approximately 7:15 p.m. EDT.

Tonight is the Vols’ second and final scrimmage of this preseason camp, and Dooley said it was scheduled to include “a lot more situational” work than Saturday’s first scrimmage in Johnson City, Tenn., but plenty of standard stuff was also supposedly in the works for a team that it trying to develop better depth on offense, defense and special teams.

We’ll provide stats, quotes and notes from tonight’s action in this thread.

There will be no govols247 photo gallery from tonight’s scrimmage, because reporters weren’t permitted to watch the scrimmage or the stretching before scrimmage.

Some of tonight’s updates will be available for all readers, and some will be available only to our VIP subscribers.
