Search should start to heat up

Now that the regular season has ended for many college football teams, that allows more coaches to pursue jobs and be pursued by potential suitors.

One coach whose season is complete is University of Miami coach Al Golden, and we have reason to believe he would definitely listen if Tennessee came calling.

Golden certainly isn't afraid of a challenge. If he were, he never would have agreed to become the head football coach at Temple.

He took over a program that was 3-31 in its previous three seasons and was thrown out of the Big East – yes, the Big East – for lack of competitiveness.

After turning around the Owls' program, he took on a new challenge with the Hurricanes. The problem is, the situation in South Florida is worse than he was led to believe. The cloud of a high-profile NCAA investigation has been hanging over the program for more than a year, and the feeling is severe sanctions could be handed down at any time.

Earlier this season, we started to hear rumors about Golden looking to get out of Miami – and that was before Miami self-imposed a bowl ban for the second consecutive season.

Is the challenge at Miami one that Golden will see through? Will he have the chance to accept a new challenge as the coach at Tennessee next season?
